Endgames
- Multi-metric access
This looks up data in DTM (depth to mate), DTC (depth to conversion),
DTZ (depth to zeroing move), and DTZ50 (DTZ, but treating > 50 moves as drawn)
databases simultaneously. It is a work in progress but still useful.
- Computation Status
Summarizes the status of EGT computation that I am aware of, including
feasibility estimates for ones that have not been done.
- Mutual Zugzwang List
Being in zugzwang means you would prefer not to have the move. Mutual
zugzwang (sometimes call reciprocal zugzwang) is when being on the move
changes the theoretical result
of the game for the worse (ie, if you are on the move you lose while if you
were not on the move you could draw or win). These positions are quite
important in endgame theory, and "getting the opposition" in K and P
endgames is an example of maneuvering towards a mutual zugzwang position.
- Additional Documents for Download
Additional documents/tables/etc related to chess endgames.
- Maximal positions (coming soon)
These are positions which take the longest to win or lose from a given
side in a particular endgame.
- Endgame practice partner (coming soon)
Practice against the computer in a particular ending. The computer always
plays optimally, since it has access to the database tables.
